Agricultural
Farm generating sets, irrigation pumps, and standby power on rural sites.
The problem
A farm runs generating sets and pump engines on a rural site, often off the mains, where fuel is trucked in and every litre is a cost carried directly by the business. Downtime in season is expensive, so the engines are worked hard and seldom idle.
Engine envelope
- Fuels
- Diesel generating and pump-drive engines.
- Power band
- Roughly 10 kVA to 500 kVA.
- Duty cycle
- Seasonal peaks, irrigation duty, and standby.
- Not in envelope
- Not the traction engines of tractors or harvesters, not spark-ignition engines, and not units that cannot be taken offline in season.
What a survey includes
- A site visit to the set or pump and its exhaust run.
- The engine make, model, rating, and seasonal duty.
- Access and how the unit can be taken offline for fitting.
- The fuel supply and how running cost is currently tracked.
How we measure
We do not quote a figure before we have seen your engine. We measure your engine before and after fitting, under a protocol agreed with you, on your fuel and your load — and we give you those measurements.
